Public procurement in Sub-Saharan Africa continues to create headlines with recent high profile fraud, corruption and negligence cases being uncovered during the bidding for and execution of public contracts.
These cases can typically involve wrongdoing and negligence from both the public and private sectors. Regulatory compliance risks as well as the risk of potentially losing a contract through cancellation or a successful bid protest or the potential for non-payment creates complex challenges for private sector companies when deciding how to structure a bid for potentially lucrative contracts across the region.
