WHAT : Press briefing on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), a programme of the African Union.
* Ten years ago, African leaders adopted NEPAD as the blueprint for the continent development. In 2010, the plan was officially incorporated into the African Union.
* In 2002, the UN endorsed NEPAD as it main vehicle in support to Africa.
* Since its adoption, NEPAD has promoted bold and innovative approaches in various sectors, including agriculture, new technologies and governance.
* In the past ten years, most African economies grew at an accelerated pace. Despite the negative impact of the recent global recession, the continent is said to perform better than most regions of the world.
