The main goal of the expert group meeting is to provide a platform and opportunity the governance experts drawn from various regions of Africa and the diaspora to critically review the draft background paper and the five regional horizon-scanning studies covering Central, Eastern, North, Southern and West Africa. The workshop will aim to achieve the following objectives :
Discuss progress and updates on the development of the AU Agenda 2063 ;
Provide further review for the final revisions of the Background Paper with a view to ensure quality control ;
Provide scientific oversight and quality control over the five regional horizon-scanning studies by way of discussion and proposals on required improvements before the reports are completed ;
Deliberate on the next steps towards completion of the project and submission of its outcome to the AUC as a contribution to the AU Agenda 2063.
The expected outputs of the EGM include :
Proceedings report ;
Final and revised Background Paper ;
Final and revised horizon-scanning reports ;
Agreed time-frames and next steps for the project between October and November 2013.
